High Performance Computing at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau

Welcome to the homepage of the High Performance Computer Elwetritsch at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU).

The High Performance Computer 'Elwetritsch' combines the available HPC resources at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau within the Allianz für Hochleistungsrechnen Rheinland-Pfalz, abbr. AHRP. Access to the computer is granted to all members of the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau and the AHRP.

Accessing and Using Elwetritsch

Please read the documentation about Using SSH on Elwetritsch carefully.

Members of the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau require a so called account for employees. Access for students may be granted by their supervisor via the service portal.

Members of the AHRP can register via the RARP service registration portal (if your organization is not listed, please contact us by mail).

There are several possibilities to login to 'Elwetritsch' depending on your computer system. The easiest way is to connect with a Linux-based system but of course access is also possible using Windows or macOS systems. We provide four login nodes ( ... for members of RPTU and two (, for members of the AHRP.

A short summary of best practices using the batch system on 'Elwetritsch' provides further information besides the menue items at the top with hints on software, job scripts, and a FAQ.
